Monroe receives state funding for housing

MONROE — The town is receiving $400,000 in state funds to enhance housing availability and increase economic development. “Not only is safe, secure, affordable housing a basic human need, but it also supports the overall economic success of our town and state,” said state Sen. Marilyn Moore, D-Bridgeport. “I welcome this effort to continue improving and enhancing living conditions for our most vulnerable residents in Monroe.” The town plans to rehabilitate 10 low and moderate-income households, including roof replacements, furnace and heating systems replacements, plumbing and electrical upgrades, window and door replacements, septic system repairs and energy efficiency upgrades.
