VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A two-car accident closed part of Center Road in Vernon on Thursday afternoon. (WTNH / Cailyn Blonstein) According to Vernon Fire Department, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Center Road near Regan Road. Officers did not release details about how the accident happened, but they did tell News 8 that no poles or wires were involved. VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Vernon man is facing multiple charges in connection to a daytime drive-by shooting that happened on Monday. On Wednesday, Vernon Police and New Britain Police arrested 21-year-old Coolidge Edwards of Vernon in connection with a daytime drive-by shooting that happened on Ward Street in Vernon on Monday. UConn signs $32 million sponsorship extension with Nike

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut has signed a $32.45 million sponsorship extension with Nike. The deal will have the apparel-maker provide UConn athletic teams with uniforms, footwear, practice gear, other apparel and equipment through the 2022-23 academic year. The school says Nike also will make cash payments to the school. Nike has been the apparel provider for UConn athletics since 2008, when it signed the first all-sports deal in school history. HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The former CEO of companies that sold the virtual currency Paycoin and hashlets has pleaded guilty in Connecticut to a $9 million fraud. Homero Joshua Garza pleaded guilty on Thursday to wire fraud. Prosecutors say the former Somers resident ran several companies in the business of virtual currency. Motorcyclist seriously hurt after being hit by car in Hebron

Route 85 in Hebron closed due to serious crash

HEBRON, Conn. (WTNH) — Route 85 in Hebron has been closed while emergency crews respond to a serious accident.
